A US bank is warning nearly 4,000 customers that their names, Social Security numbers and financial account information could be at risk after a data breach.
Last May, Florida-based Flagship Bank “became aware of suspicious activity within its environment” and launched an investigation, according to a new document filed with the Maine Attorney General’s Office.
“The investigation determined that the unauthorized access within the Flagship Bank environment occurred on April 15, 2025 due to a social engineering scheme.
“While we have no evidence of any identity theft or fraud occurring in connection with this incident, Flagship Bank conducted a review of the relevant systems and is notifying those whose information was present within the systems.”
The community bank operates six branches throughout Florida, as well as a Community Association Banking Division (CAB), which offers loans, deposits and cash management services to condominium associations and homeowners.
In a letter to customers, the financial institution said it notified federal authorities about the data breach and has been working to provide its employees with additional training to prevent future incidents.
Flagship Bank says it also offers 12 months of credit monitoring services through credit reporting agency TransUnion, and says it will provide “proactive fraud assistance” to help with any customer questions.
