John-Paul Thorbjornsen, co-founder of Thorchain, recently suffered a trick of $ 1.3 million made by North Korean scammers. Thorchain was very clear that the company’s funds are completely safe.
Zachxbt described the incident as “a bit poetic”, calling attention to Thorchain’s role in money laundering from other important robberies. He reminded his audience for the previous comments of Thorbjornsen on the group activities of Lázaro.

North Korea Hacks Thorchain Founder
North Korea hacks have been prolific at this time, with a large number of high profile incidents. Last night, the accounts began to inform that Thorchain directly experienced this attack, although the platform remained quite inflexible in which the company’s wallets were not affected.
Instead, Thorchain’s co-founder, John-Paul Thorbjornsen, confirmed that his personal funds were in the sights. The incident took place a few days ago, but directly recognized that he was the victim:
With this public admission, a more complete image became clear. North Korea’s scammers enabled hack through a video call, which is a common tactic of them. This allowed computer pirates to find old private keys on Icloud of Thorbjornsen, while their multisig wallets apparently remained safe.
Thorswap also offered a reward for returned funds.

Ironically, some of the largest security detectives in the cryptographic industry have been ridiculed the incident. Zachxbt reminded his audience that Thorchain washed the Hack Bybit funds, the most successful cryptomonitator in North Korea.
The platform has been accused of laundering stolen money several times. For these reasons, Zachxbt described him “a little poetic” that North Korean hacks pointed to someone who “has greatly benefited financially” of these washing incidents.
He also cited a previous appearance in the interview related to Bybit of Thorbjornsen, where he defended the right of the RPDC to carry out these incidents:
“[North Korea] You have the right to be sovereign. If security gaps explode and can move cryptography … That is your effort. They are not doing inherently bad in my opinion, ”he said in an interview. Thorbjornsen also confirmed that Thorchain obtained between $ 5 and $ 10 million to process hack bybit funds.
In other words, this is a very chaotic incident. Since this North Korea hack only addressed a Thorchain employee, there is no guarantee that the company’s policy will even change.
After all, regardless of financial concerns, Thorbjornsen defended the actions of the Lázaro group for philosophical reasons.
Even so, one thing seems relatively direct. Although cryptographic detectives have already been fighting to deal with this wave of crime, Zachxbt has been firm and vocal with his lack of sympathy. This could deter researchers independent of working to help track and recover these funds.
