The governor of California, Gavin Newsom, said he will intensify his attacks against President Donald Trump by launching a memory and expanding a wave of publications on social networks designed to parody the person online of the former president, NBC Los Angeles reported.
The governor made the revelations during a recent appearance as a guest coanfrerion in the “Pivot” podcast with the journalist Kara Swisher.
He said he launched the initiative to highlight what he called the absurdity of Trump’s online, including the frequent use of the president of the capital letters and images generated by AI that represents himself as a superhero.
Newsom said the currency, scheduled to be called “Trump’s corruption”, will finance its campaign for democracy and redistribution efforts of districts. He added that the project is partly satire, but reflects deep concerns about the state of American democracy.
‘Trump Corruption Coin’
Newsom said that Trump’s corruption currency aims to counteract Trump digital assets, including Trump’s official tab. He added that the income will be directed towards their campaign for democracy, which will finance the redistribution efforts of districts and the basic organization.
He joked that his original idea was to name the “Smelt” coin, a wink to inform about Trump’s personal fragrance. He added that if he decided to imitate the president even more, he could even crowdsource names for a perfume line.
Despite the satirical advantage, Newsom framed the project as a serious warning about the democratic setback, which adds to the concerns raised by the Democrats about Trump’s digital companies.
The governor also expressed his confidence that his memes currency would overcome Trump, remembering a previous exchange of the White House in which Trump boasted about the profits of his currency and his wife, Melania, ventured into the same market.
Gloves
Newsom said his gloves approach arose after months of attempts to cooperate with Trump’s administration on federal disaster aid. However, he changed the course when Trump displayed troops and marines of the National Guard to Los Angeles to support the aggressive immigration raids.
He said that the moment was a turning point for him and remembered having ordered his staff to abandon the restriction and adopt an implacable public confrontation strategy.
The Democratic governor, who is widely seen as a presidential presidential candidate, said Americans should expect more trolling and social networks in the coming months.
