The virtual assistant of the AI Government of Albania, which helps citizens obtain everything from driving licenses to requests for pension and judicial presentations, has become one of the first politicians of the world.
“Diella is the first member of the Cabinet that is not physically present, but is virtually created by AI”, and JAS has had the task of maintaining Albania “100% free of corruption,” said the Prime Minister of Albania, Edi Rama on Thursday, in a National Assembly of the Socialist Party.
Your task will be to supervise all government acquisitions of private sector goods and services, which has led to a series of corruption scandals in Albania in recent decades.
The reports indicate that Diella, which means “sun” in Albanian, had been serving as virtual assistant with AI on the e-albania platform, helping citizens and companies obtain several state documents through voice commands and documents with electronic stamps to reduce bureaucratic delays.
According to reports, Dielle has helped issue more than 36,600 digital documents and provided almost 1,000 services through the platform.
Rama, however, did not provide many details about who would be responsible for the mistakes made by Diella, what human supervision would exist or how the risks of the AI that are manipulated would be handled.
The bots of AI are making their way through governments
It marks one of the first important government roles in the hands of a bot of the history. Last May, Ukraine presented “Victoria Shi”, a spokesman generated by AI who provides updates on foreign affairs.

Albania seems to have embraced more than cryptography in recent years. By establishing a cryptographic regulatory framework in May 2020, one of the most comprehensive pieces of cryptographic legislation in Europe at that time, the Bank of Albania has continued to broadcast warnings about the risks associated with cryptography trade, decelerating adoption.
Albania full of corruption for decades
While Albania is still a peaceful country, for a long time it has been a hot point for organized crime, and some officials were accused of benefiting from contracts.
Earlier this year, Erion Veliaj, the mayor of Tirana, and Illir Meta, the former president of Albania and leader of the Freedom Party of the opposition, were accused of corruption.
In 2023, Lefter Koka, the country’s former environmental minister, was sentenced to more than six years in prison for accepting a bribe of 3.7 million euros ($ 4.34 million) linked to a construction project.

Corruption has taught that Albania becomes a member of the European Union since it became a candidate country in 2014.
Rama, however, has the hope that your country receives membership by 2030.
